Bora-Hansgrohe wrapped up a successful Tour of Slovenia, delivering Sam Bennett to his second sprint victory of the week while protecting the position of Rafal Majka atop the overall general classification.
Bennett topped Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data), who finally showed sparks of his old self after a comeback from glandular fever, and Sonny Colbrelly (Bahrain-Merida) in the bunch kick.
"We worked the whole day for the jersey of Rafa, therefore I didn't have a lot of guys for the sprint today," Bennett said. "But Rudi [Selig] brought us up in the perfect moment, we took the outside on the penultimate corner, to be inside on the last one."
Bennett then dropped back off the wheel before accelerating into Cavendish's slipstream and slingshotting past him to the stage win.
"We can be very proud of the team this week, it was a perfect performance from all of us," Bennett said.
Cavendish tried to get the jump on the Irishman, but it didn't quite work out, but had no regrets for adding the race to his programme at the last minute. "It's been really nice here in Tour de Slovenia. I have enjoyed myself and I'm very happy that I came here to race."
